Before You Get To

Evo BJJ:

Make sure your Gi and your clothing is clean:

Please make sure your Gi and clothing are free of all odor and debris.

Cut your fingernails and toenails:

This one is rough for some, but you know what messes up a nice manicure? Blood and skin.

Practice good Hygiene:

Wear deodorant before coming to class – Your partner’s face will definitely be close to your armpit while
rolling. Before putting your gi on, make sure your breath doesn’t stink. Tie your hair back if it is long.

Properly wrap any cuts with tape:

If you have minor cuts, you can still go train but make sure to wrap them good with durable
medical/athletic tape.

If you’re sick, don’t train:

Would you want someone sneezing in your mouth?

Arriving At

Evo BJJ:

If you’re new, make sure you get there early to make sure you are aware of where to go:

The instructors can give you an overview of class policies and give you an opportunity to ask questions. Also you can fill out all important paperwork.

Try not to be late:

Not only is being late disrespectful, it is also a distraction to the other people training. If you arrive way past the warmup, then you risk injuring yourself and the instructors might not let you train.

No shoes on the mat:

You should remove your shoes only immediately before stepping on the mat. Shoes should be put back on immediately when you step off the mat. Your face ends up on the mat from time to time. You wouldn’t want your face to end up where a dirty shoe that potentially stepped in pee, poop, or all other gross things.

Remove all jewelry:

Remove your ring, earrings, necklace, anklet or any other jewelry. Wearing jewelry while training also puts you and your partners at risk as it could result in cuts.

Don’t hesitate to ask the other parents for help if the instructors are not available:

They will be more than happy to help you or find someone who can.

Class Schedule!

Stay up to date on class times! Contact us if you have any questions about our classes.

Bow towards the mat before stepping onto the mat and when leaving the mat.

Rules On the mat:

Line Up In Belt Order:

You will always line up from highest belt (black) to lowest belt (white) (Green-White for kids) Then after that it goes by number of stripes, 4 being the highest amount. If you look behind you or next to you and you’re ahead of someone you shouldn’t be, adjust.

Don’t talk while the Jiu Jitsu instructor is talking:

When the instructor is talking, there should be nothing but silence. You need to know what you’re going to do and other people need to know too.

If you’re stronger than your partner, don’t go crazy:

Respect their size and know better than to use all your strength on them. You are allowed to roll with everyone.! It doesn’t matter if they’re a first day white belt. Just be mindful and or more technical when you’re rolling with someone smaller and less experienced than you.

It’s respectful to look neat:

Make sure Gi is straight and belt is tied before rolling and before the class ends.

After Class

Or After Rolling:

Make sure you say thank you to everyone you trained or roll with and to the coach.

Every person in the gym is there to help you and you are there to help them. End each class or session
by saying thanks. Of course, thank the coach for the class and feel free to ask them questions.

Wait for the coach to formally dismiss the class before moving or talking to
a friend.

Wait until the coach bows the class out.
